The Foundation for Women’s Solidarity is an independant organisation that aims to fight all types of violence against women, especially domestic violence, by women’s solidarity. The Foundation contributes to societal change towards ending the legitimation of violence agaist women, developing pressure about women’s human rights through its media and public opinion oriented activities. Furthermore, various training programs on combating violence against women, and Consciousness (Awareness) Raising activities are being undertaken with volunteers of the Foundation and the professional staff members, and with the women who come to the Consulting Center.
The Foundation creates financial sources by member aids and donations provided from different organisations and individuals, maintains its existence through the support of voluntary workers and executes its activities of informing the public on and lobbying against violence against women.
Activities of informing public opinion, being lobbyier and defender
-The first panel at Ankara on the subject of ‘Domestic Violence’ in the year of 1991
-The first panel at Ankara on the subject of ‘Honour Murders’ in the year of 1991
-Different panels, announcements, television reportages and radio programmes after the year of 1991
-International conference titled “Domestic Violence in the Families of Low Socio-economical Level at Ankara” in the year of 1995
– International conference titled “Domestic Violence in the Families of Middle and High Socio-economical Level at Ankara” in the year of 1996
-Activities of giving consciousness and creating awareness through education programmes among women and civil servants. (public officers)
-Participation to the Studies of Five Years Development Commission of State Planning Organization
-Participation to preparation of National Action Plan for giving an end to violence against women
-Following law suits, especially suits of abuse (aggression)
-To activate government associations and units about application (implementation) of UN decisions
