Shelter Activities

The Foundation for Women’s Solidarity has managed three shelters so far. The first shelter was opened in 1993, the year the Foundation was established. The second shelter activity began in 2003. Both shelter activities were carried out with the cooperation of the municipalities in Ankara. However, both of the shelters were closed due to the changes in the local governments after the local elections and the decisions of the new administrations.

The third one was the shelter we operated between the years 2005 and 2016 for women who were subjected to women trafficking. Through this activity, we established solidarity with 286 women and 11 children; providing them with social, legal and psychological support in their own languages.

Shelter activities were carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health, International Organization for Migration, Directorate General of Migration Management and the Metropolitan Municipality of Ankara.

Currently, the Foundation does not carry out any shelter activity.
